Dear U3A members and cineastes amongst you! 

I’m offering to launch a new group; it appears there could be need for another one devoted to lovers of cinema? 

Cinematic Milestones is the theme: historic films which reflected attitudes, introduced fashions, made history, won awards and some condemned by the critics; only to reappear as ‘cult movies’. 

I’ve no wish to steal the show from existing film groups or compete for their patronage. I’m proffering a monthly gathering at a city venue where we view the film then applaud it or pull it apart!  I would make proposed titles available in advance

Gatherings could be more frequent if demand dictates: the bigger the uptake; the better the venue.  The only cost will be venue hire; divided between patrons.

I’m Stephen Peart: bringing a lifetime’s experience working with film in broadcast television and published on local cinema history.  If you are interested in supporting the plan I welcome your comments.

A successful launch will be governed by the uptake!
